Over in Duffy, Weston Creek, in Canberra’s south, our client L needed help planning and designing a new kitchen. Like many people, the idea of going to a huge design and furniture store like Ikea was a bit too much, so he booked us in for an Ikea In Home Design at his house.
Once I saw his old kitchen and got an idea of how he wanted to go about replacing it, we were able to work together to come up with a design for a new kitchen, based on the dozens of options that Ikea has.
Although the layout of the kitchen stayed pretty much the same, with the sink and cooktop in the same place, for L it was all about updating the cabinets, benchtops and fittings.
He chose a mid-range design that included an island with a wood veneer bench top.
Once we had settled on the design, booked in a date and ordered the new kitchen, it was time for us to get to work.
As part of CanKit’s service, we can strip out the old kitchen and arrange for its removal. We did this for L within a few hours – it was very satisfying to be able to watch the old kitchen disappear, leaving a blank space filled with possibilities.
We then spent around three days assembling and installing the new Ikea kitchen. We have our own team of tradies, including a plumber, electrician and plasterer, and could get the job done easily over the week.
Our price included all the work that L would have otherwise had to organise himself – money well spent!
