A couple in Ainslie, Canberra’s inner north, contacted us at CanKit because they were after a kitchen refresh.
We spent some time with them in their beautiful home talking over the plans, until we landed on the perfect design for the IKEA kitchen they were after.
We’ve been doing IKEA In Home Design consultations for ages now, but they never get boring. It’s really exciting to really get to be part of someone’s design process, especially when the end result is going to be so important to the rest of the house, and to the client’s daily life.
Once they had settled on a design for a medium-sized –shaped kitchen with white cabinets and a trademark IKEA timber benchtop, we booked in a time to go and strip out the old kitchen for them.
This didn’t take too long, and as always, the process of getting rid of the old kitchen made the project seem real.
We then took about a week to assemble and install the new Ikea kitchen in Ainslie. We used our own team of tradies, including a plumber, electrician and plasterer, and we were able to coordinate them to complete the job in five days.
The price included all the trades that the client would otherwise have had to organise himself, so this was money well spent, and made the process much smoother, as we could project-manage from start to finish.
Ikea designs its products so that they can be installed independently of the business, but many people find this very challenging. IKEA offers an instore design service, but many clients prefer someone to visit the space and really get a sense of how the kitchen will fit, and to give suggestions for the various options available.
Best of all, this service costs the same as the in-store service at IKEA – $149, and means all the measurements will be accurate, and the installer – like CanKit – will have a good idea of the space well before they start the work.
We’ve done so many different flat-pack kitchens now, and have a really good understanding of how they work, and how to make sure the job is done properly.
The Ainslie couple were pretty glad they had gone with CanKit to design and build their amazing new kitchen. Their house was already pretty spectacular, but an IKEA kitchen took to the next level!
